Duke’s Partners with Damsel Cellars and Train to Launch Foundation to Save Wild Salmon
At Duke’s Seafood, our passion for wild Pacific Northwest salmon has always been at the heart of everything we do. From the recipes we create to the sustainability standards we uphold, salmon is more than a menu item—it’s part of our heritage and our future. That’s why we launched the Dukes Damsel on a Train Foundation in 2023, a nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting and restoring wild salmon populations throughout the region.
This foundation is the result of a unique collaboration between people who care deeply about this mission: Duke Moscrip and John Moscrip of Duke’s Seafood, Pat Monahan of the multi‑platinum band Train, and Heather Andersen and Mike Cowden, co‑owners of Damsel Cellars. Together, we’ve combined our love of great food, music, and wine with a shared commitment to preserving the natural resources that make the Pacific Northwest so special.
Wild salmon are an irreplaceable part of our ecosystem. They feed forests, enrich rivers, and support countless other species—including people. Yet their survival is threatened by habitat loss, climate change, and overdevelopment. The Dukes Damsel on a Train Foundation is stepping up to meet that challenge head‑on. Through hands‑on conservation work, funding for habitat restoration projects, and educational outreach, the foundation’s mission is simple but urgent: ensure that wild salmon not only survive but thrive for generations to come.
This is a mission that reaches far beyond Duke’s Seafood. Every healthy salmon run supports local communities, tribal traditions, regional economies, and a thriving environment. But it will take all of us—businesses, individuals, and partners like you—to make a lasting difference.
If you believe in protecting wild salmon and preserving the unique spirit of the Pacific Northwest, we invite you to join us. Your contribution—big or small—can directly fuel programs that restore spawning grounds, safeguard watersheds, and inspire future generations to care for these incredible fish.

Thank you for supporting sustainable seafood and joining us in this new chapter of conservation.
